Santa: 2014 Edition

I think we're done attempting to see Santa this year. We didn't do any paid Santa experiences but seemed to run into the big guy everywhere we went.

The verdict: Ben and Jack were terrified. Amelia was quite star struck. She desperately wanted to see him and tell him what she wanted for Christmas but couldn't muster up a single word when she saw him.

What does Amelia want for Christmas? She has it perfectly rehearsed, I need to get it on video. She wants 1-2 things (thumb and pointer finger 1 and 2), a dollhouse and shoes (Elsa shoes we saw at the grocery store oh, 2 months ago, that she won't let go of clearly).

Luckily, I have heard from the big guy himself that 1-2 gifts are ready to go under the tree come Christmas Eve. If she changes her mind, we're done for.

So here are our Santa attempts fails from this year!

The closest the boys got to Santa.
 Probably my favorite
Having a moment with the guy in red...just so he doesn't get too close
She was way more excited than she looks, I swear.
the only picture with all 3 of them

This was in Waynesville with only 1 other kid in line so Amelia got a few moments to try to talk. She didn't but she was super happy that I made sure Santa knew what to bring her on Christmas. She told me I did a good job ;)

Pin The Halls: Holiday Food

We have a Christmas party coming up this weekend where I need to make food. It's one of those fancy progressive dinner party events...and by fancy I mean not really because it's held in garages and kids are there so how fancy can it really get when toddlers are involved?

I need to whip up a festive dessert so you can guess what I've been pinning on my Pin the Halls board!

Your turn! What are you pinning? Any dessert ideas for my party this weekend? ;)

Friday favs: November edition

I am normally a really strict follower of seasons and holidays. I don't let my love of pumpkin come out until after labor day. I try to keep Christmas at a minimum until after Thanksgiving.
This year, I've caved. Maybe it's my daughter knowing the word Christmas. Maybe its my excitement to spend a holiday season in cold temps for the first time in a long time. Or my need to fit in all of our family holiday things before we vacation. Or the fact that we have 2 neighbors on our street with lights up already. Anyway, we have let Christmas into our lives already and I don't think we will be able to stop it until well into the new year ;)

So some early holiday season favorites for you that we've been enjoying the past few days ;)

My TJ's peppermint stash. Love.

The Polar Express.

I used to not really care for this movie, but now looking at it from my kids point of view...trains, christmas, santa, lots of lights, dancing and catchy songs...I guess I see why they're obsessed. While checking out Netflix the other day I saw it was on there and decided to put it on for our before bed TV time. It was all over, my life didn't stand a chance. "Christmas Train" as it is so affectionately called at our house is now an obsession. I've watched it more in the past 2 days than I have in the years it's been out, but never in its entirety because we don't have that kind of patience around here. I guess there are worse things they could be obsessed with ;)  We also read the book before bed time, so I have a feeling I'll be pretty sick of the polar express by Thanksgiving ;)

These scents

Since it's in the 80s outside I WILL make it feel like fall/winter inside my house. Just watch me, Mother Nature! ;)

These freebies over on Snapfish

My desire to throw a holiday party is very strong. Then I remember I can barely get my act together to get my 3 kids out the door to music class, and suddenly I realize holiday parties might have to wait until the kids are a bit older. I do plan on using some of the print outs and banners for decorations this year ;)

Are you ready for Christmas yet or are you being good and waiting a few more weeks? ;)
