Hump Day Happenings

Happy Hump Day everyone!

Hope everyone is having a good week so far!

See this kinda blah carpet? Ok, it looks good in this picture but this was before the previous owners sold the house ;) It doesn't look quite as nice in person. Either way, say bye bye because it's getting ripped up any day now!

The kids and I have ran off to Pennsylvania while demo goes down and hopefully we'll come home to some beautiful new floors! I'm excited! Fingers crossed it goes well!

So lately, Ben has had a bit of a cold, but before we came to PA we still found some time to do some fun in the past few weeks....including some wonderful new parks! Here are some pictures from our new favorite!

The Dayton area Metroparks are absolutely amazing! Each park seems to have it's own little theme and special touch from butterflies to sensory gardens to farms, creeks, and animals. The kids have had an absolute blast and we're so lucky to be able to get the chance to experience all of these fun spots!

I can see why Wright-Patterson was named top Air Force base in the nation ;) So far, we totally agree! And funny enough, Los Angeles was apparently the absolute worst! ha! I'm not sure that it was THAT bad but I can see why it was at the bottom of the list.

Ohio Life Lately

Life lately has been quite busy and hectic, but relaxing at the same time. We're really enjoying summer here. I know most of things we've been doing lately won't be options in a few more months when it gets colder so we're soaking up every bit of sunshine we can get! We'll just forget about school and winter for now and focus on all the fun we're having.

And finding new ice cream shops. They're a little obsessed with ice cream.

Easter Events

I hope everyone who celebrates Easter had a fun one! Ours was pretty quiet but fun. We are slowly going through our moving checklist (which is still very, very long) so rather than have to worry about preparing a big meal or a lot of events, I called the weekend a no-cook weekend and we just relaxed and checked things off our list with a few Easter events thrown in there for the kids.

Saturday the base had an Easter Egg hunt and carnival type event. We went to the Easter egg hunt 2 years ago,

This year, things were a little different...

Ben was big enough that he really got into the egg hunt too.

Afterwards, we checked out the rides and fun, but the wind was wild and the lines were long so we didn't last long.

Then we proceeded to clean the walls of the house and start going through the kids toys...ughhh...moving....

Easter morning the kids got to wake up to some treats from the Easter bunny. Squirt guns (very popular on our street), bubbles (classic), a new toddler bible, and a little bit of candy.

 

 

 They just liked to make a mess with all of the easter grass...that is still all over my living room despite several attempts to clean it all up.

We went to church then had brunch on base. We went to the mother's day brunch there a few years ago and it was really nice. Easter was very similar, lots of good food, nice decorations, not super crowded, although we went as soon as it started to squeeze in bunch before nap time so it might have picked up later in the day. We tried to get a family picture, but it was hard enough to get a picture of all 3 kids together.

We also planned out our cross county route, booked some hotels and made plans to stay with some friends so I'm starting to feel a little bit more prepared for this cross country roadtrip! A little....now to just get the house ready, and the packing, and then figuring out the housing situation when we get there. Ok, so there's still a lot to do ;)

To go in order with what's been happening in our lives, I guess it's about time I throw this out there in the blogisphere....but first, a story.

Once upon a time, this college girl decided to take a road trip to Ohio to visit some friends. 1 was there visiting for work, and another was living in Cincinnati at the time. While planning her trip, another friend said he'd be there too and this girl said she'd definitely give him a call when she got there so they could meet up. Well, the girl traveled to Ohio, hung out with friend #1 and Cincy friend and never called, not even once, friend #2. He was sad by this but eventually got over it. Then they got married and lived happily ever after.

To summarize, I totally blew Tom off for another guy. True story. Now, 7 years later, we're going to be calling the place where we were supposed to meet up and hang out HOME.

(sidetrack for people who didn't know, Tom and I actually met a few years earlier in Virginia and stayed in touch with each other. We were both dating other people and were friends for the first few years we knew each other. Then I went to Pennsylvania, he graduated and moved to Florida, I blew him off when he was in Ohio for work, we reconnected the next Spring and at some point thought we'd get married...because why not, right? Ok, it might have been a bit more romantic, but that's the basic idea)

The Air Force gave us the word a few months ago and we are now a little over a month out from MOVING! Across the country! Gosh, didn't we just do that? ;)

by the end of May, we'll be hitting the road from Los Angeles and heading to our new home in Ohio! We're super excited! It's closer to all of our family and friends in Pennsylvania and it's at the base with Tom's best man. He's excited to have someone for man dates again ;)

Tom is also excited to be calling Ohio home again. Ugh. Just Kidding! Sort of. Did you know he's from Cleveland? Don't hold it against him, I try not to.

Woooo! Glad I got that off my chest! Don't be surprised if future posts entail me griping and moaning about coordinating a cross country move with 3 small children. That's Air Force life ;)
